The Planetary Health Conference 2020 has launched an Art Competition for school children, as part of efforts to include children and young people in the Conference activities.
The Competition, organised under the theme “Fight Climate Change; Save The Planet”, seeks the perspectives of children and youth aged between 6 and 18 years, on the impact of climate change on their lives, as well as proposed solutions to address these challenges.
The Competition is open to all children in The Gambia within this age category, and entries can be developed in various art formats, including the use of recycled materials. Entries can be submitted at school level, or at any of the MRCG at LSHTM sites in Fajara, Keneba and Basse.
Initial judging for the competition will be done at regional level, in partnership with the Regional Education Directorates. Winning entries from the regional level will be judged at national level, and 3 winners will be selected in each category.
All 6 winners will be invited to attend the Planetary Health Conference at the Kairaba Beach Hotel from 22nd to 24th January 2020, to receive their prizes. They will also have the opportunity to present their work to the conference delegates. The winning entries will be displayed at the Conference venue, and subsequently in other venues.
The competition is open from 18th November to 14th December 2019.
